You are correct. I responded with out thinking carefully in that post. I have since edited out the mistake.

there was a similar beating in Santa Cruz (of a white man) at about the same time and it bearly made a media ripple.

Only for want of a Causasian equivalent of a Jesse Jackson or an Al Sharpton...

Do you think it's fair that this only received minor coverage, if any?

Were there any outcries from the ACLU about this man's plight?

As for Reginald Denny, was that a "hate crime", or merely troubled youth "lashing out" at society in general?

When we see people discussing hate crime, unfortunately it is usually white males who are the targets of such accusations, and the denigrates all whites as a whole leading to the mistaken presumption that white's inherently hate blacks, or blacks inherently hate whites.

And it provides a fertile breeding ground for white racists such as David Duke...

This link came up as I was searching Reginald Denny.. Interesting case Duke presents here (and I offer no excuses for Duke, nor any support)

Bottom line is.. minorities should be careful what they ask for. Because the expectation will be that they will be denied the favoritism that seemingly pervades the judicial system. A favortism that turns ruthless killers and violent offenders into political heroes and pawns of the Sharptons, Farrakhans, and Jacksons of the world, and denying their victims the recourse that ALL OF US are entitled to.
