I didn't see any news released. VSEA is normally more volatile, but this is ridiculous.

Varian not changing its business performance guidance
NEW YORK, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Varian Semiconductor Equipment Inc. (NasdaqNM:VSEA - news) said on Tuesday that its guidance on its business performance has not changed since its July earnings release and conference call.

Semiconductor stocks have fallen sharply recently on investor concerns that the sector's sales strength is nearing a peak.

The company did not state what that guidance consisted of, but said it will release its fiscal fourth quarter earnings after the market close on Oct. 26.

Analysts on average expect the company to post earnings per share of 95 cents a share, up from 7 cents a share a year ago.

Varian's shares closed down $9-23/32 at $21-3/4 on the Nasdaq.
