Did Aspect move up the earnings report cc due to Parker announcing his resignation in favor of moving up to Peoplesoft? Aspect must have known this just prior to yesterday, but they didn't address it in the cc. Did Aspect management point to a successful turnaround being achieved, or is the company for sale? They still have several dollars a share in cash. And, what is this Kana agreement? Maybe all these companies will end up as one, with a market cap of $1 billion. Who knows what these companies are really worth at fair market value?

Can you tell I'm frustrated?

KHS...

>>I listened to the anal's questions and could tell they are just looking for anything foul. Hell, ASPT could deliver on 9 of 10 issues and they would push the button on 1 missed item.<<

I am no expert but after years of fooling around in the market, one thing that always seems true is the following.

In an up market good news is good news and bad news is good news. In a down market good news is bad news and bad news is worse.

On the other hand, it is a bit of a reach to say that ASPT really had a great Q and even companies with stellar results are taking a hit. I own some XLNX (XILINX) and they just reported YOY sales gains of 83% and earnings growth YOY of 93% and the stock dropped several points this a.m. Now has a PE of around 30. Go figure.

I will remain long on ASPT but it is going to take a while.

Regarding analysts, I came across a report on CRM at the following link:

money.iwon.com

It states the market will be a 24 billion market by 2003. It cites some 27 companies in CRM and ASPT is NOT listed!!! I suspect that some analysts still think that ASPT is a telecomm company.

cheers

Bob T.

The unexpected resignation of a cfo is always scary. All too often it turns out that they were leaving in advance of bad news about financial irregularities that they are trying to avoid being directly associated with. I'm not suggesting that this is the case now, but it is a reasonable concern and probably explains the price drop.

Disclosure: I am long ASPT and sitting tight for now.
