stribe: else provide a link

Elmer has a link. It's a good ol' paulie (the Pengel one) message, where Engel claimed on the Intel thread: "according to ct magazine it (AMD SMP) didn't even boot". Well, German is my mother tongue, and of course there was absolutely nothing mentioned about booting problems. FUD or babelfishy? It's up to you.

Regards, Boris.

Re: "Elmer.. knowing you're a master of trying to get under people's skin over here.. I'll give you the opportunity to say so. I asked the fellows at Ace's Hardware about the so-called "problems" you brought up and they said while the presentation was indeed behind closed doors, they hadnt heard any such talk about it not booting properly or any other such problems. I've looked around myself at the hardware press and also dont see any mention of any booting problems or otherwise, so I would suggest you either admit you were over-embellishing your statement to get some ppl aggravated, else provide a link or some proof of your claims"

As is always the case, you guys accuse me of making things up and you're always proven wrong.

Here are 2 posts that refer to booting problems:

I understand the frustration of the AMD group. You've watched Intel ship chipset after chipset that seamlessly supports SMP. In fact the problem over at Intel is how to turn it off??? I type this on my dual processor Celeron system while AMD can't get a similar system working properly after over a year of trying.

Here's the problem. AMD had to move to a more modern bus architecture because socket7 was hopelessly outdated. They couldn't use Intel's P6 bus because they had signed a settlement with Intel agreeing not to copy it. They had to do something. Rather than design their own they licensed DEC's EV6 bus, claiming it's superiority over Intel's. Perhaps they really had no choice, lacking the resources at the time to design anything from scratch, they had to take anything they could get. The result is obvious.

Scott

I have to laugh...after you told some one on the mod thread that I had written a response to the WSJ reporter, there was dead silence.

I think I may need to change my tag to maverick. <g>
