Michael, do you have any thoughts on the V-like nature of these recent plunge/recoveries? They seem awfully suspicious to an awful lot of people.

Someone on the clown thread pointed out that on Friday they ramped the 'duck 8% over the day, today it only took an hour ...

Are the boyz that BGR doesn't believe in just getting careless, or might the exceedingly violent and consequently increasingly transparent nature of their latest interventions be an indication that their super-duper derivative computers are getting ready to gag up a furball?

(How's that for a really bad metaphor? <g>)

Hi Mike:

Here is a great example of the DD analyst due in their research.

Message 14613774

Now if this guy would just change his rating of SSTI. Speaking of which Mike are there any semi stocks you like at this level? With all the analyst downgrades maybe its time to start nibbling.

Tim

Michael,
Options question:

I've been a long-time holder of ERICY. Figured it was going to tank along with the rest of telecom so I sold CCalls and bought Puts with the proceeds. Worked out great (esp. today).

However, when I bought this combo (not one without the other) the brokerage house told me I had to buy at market, is that common??

TIA,
Bill/WA

Michael,
Sanmina is approaching record highs again. Do you still consider them a top put candidate? Are you determined to wait until after the election to buy any more puts?
Thanks,
/Kit

MB, I expect you have a dozen questions already to reply to, but here's another.

I have been posting about this (as have others) on the Strictly Drilling thread (oil).

Look at this:

quote.yahoo.com

According to Yahoo, OXY's P/E is 4.11. A doubling of the price would put the P/E at about 8, assuming no earnings increase at all--and at 12 assuming a considerable decline in earnings.

The LEAP calls (2002) for OXY at 30 are selling at less than 1. If this $20 stock could get to forty . . . (make up the rest of the story, folks).
