Zeev,

DDR can not displace RDRAM. It was recognized as a stop gap measure back in 1996 and that is why "Team DDR" tried to launch the ill fated SLDRAM venture. When that failed they retreated back to DDR. Still they could not pull the DDR rabbit out of the hat and its taken 4 years.

If DDR's stability problems can be worked out, it may be able to coexist in the value end of the market.

In any event, it does not matter because RMBS is collecting royalties on SDRAM, RDRAM, DDR SDRAM and Controllers.

INTEL created a gorilla back in 1996 and now they are just realizing it. Hence, Barrett's remarks. Barrett would do no doubt behave the same as RMBS if he were in charge at RMBS.
