TG, see my prev post on 'user time' and 'cpu time'. In short, that's not good enough, because they don't capture the degradation that occurs when multiple processes compete for scarce resources (the caches being the primary one).

Benchmarks need the machine to themselves.

Good Point - unless his program was using time stamps to measure execution time.
