Thursday's results: George W. Bush increased his lead over Al Gore to 49%-39%. These numbers do not reflect the results of Tuesday night's debate, as almost all polling was conducted before the contest. Those results will not be fully included in the tracking poll until the end of the week.

This means tomorrow's poll numbers might be more meaningful. Or over the weekend. By then the spin cycle has been fully digested.

George: From your post, I can deduct you are a smart man who believes in the role of big business in this country. I am just a common union working man. You certainly have much to say on this subject, and you say it well.

It has been my experience that big business in recent years has grown more unethical in pursuit of the Almighty Dollar, or, euphemistically speaking, Shareholder Value. I fear a Bush presidency will give rise to a new round of criminal behavior, and we will see more white-collar crime a la the Keating S&L scandal.
