Whereas, principally, Intel, Rambus, Dell and Samsung agreed that RDRAM was superior amongst its peers, and others
disagreed, or indicated the greater cost wasn't worth it.

One important factor is that the cost of RDRAM has been coming down, and that there is no comparable lower cost product (unless including vaporware). Further, as tinkershaw stated, the performance advantages for RDRAM will increase as the speed of the processors increase. I'm not as confident in the final outcome for RMBS as I am for QCOM and NTAP, but I do think it's a good bet to hit a grand slam.

OT (but of particular concern, perhaps, to our thread surveyor)

I was stunned to read this comment in the WSJ today, especially in light of our thread survey question and the similar contest over on the Porch:

"When [15-year-old online tout Jonathan] Lebed predicted--without any basis, according to [SEC enforcement chief Richard] Walker--that a stock would climb to $20 from $2, or that it would increase 1000%, he clearly violated the law. 'If someone puts in a recommendation with a price prediction that a stock will double, and he doesn't have a reasonable basis, that's illegal,' Mr. Walker says. 'That's the easy case.'"

could this really be true?
