FWIW,

All switch fabrics are electrical. No such thing as an optical (packet) switch, and won't be for years.

Everybody throws in the word optical these days because it sounds cool!

Only JNPR has real OC-912c card in production networks today, one of their true accomplishments, because they built it themselves.

Others like AVICI, Nexabit, Cisco, etc. are still in trials as far as I know. Or they mux 4 OC-48s together on a card and call it OC-192, without the little c.
