The gap will still be there or even widen in absolute terms as P4 moves to .13u.
OTOH, I recall Paul saying Intel hasn't ever formally announced P3 on .13u...

I am a bit curious about few weeks from now. Intel's top offering in desktop would be 1.5GHz and yet it is planned to ship only in 100Ks which is probably lower than high end desktop demand. Where does it put pIII-1GHz and not even talking of pIII-700MHz and celerons.
AMD, OTOH, would likely to offer at least 1.1, 1.2, 1.33 with ddr option and relatively cheap. AMD may offer MP Athlon while there should not be any p4 mp systems (not because of the technology but rather small numbers).
