mark, I believe that shalom is saying that Christians should not fight among themselves, but his post does not condone one Christian supporting another that is acting in an unloving, or(I'm not going to say "mean spirited" because it is a clintonism and it's use makes me sick) cruel way. As you probably know, I have been involved in arguments with other Christians, and wish that it had not happened, but Christians are humans too, and none of us are perfect. Unfortunately, Christians do take sides in some debates over rituals and doctrines. Most of the Christians not involved in the debate abstain from it. The time grows ever nearer that all Christians must make every effort to overlook the differences in rituals, doctrines, and other diverse methods of worship, in order to completely unite against the onslaught of Atheists, Pagans, Agnostics, and other kinds of satanic based concepts that are doing everything in their power to destroy our beliefs. While I do not advocate the killing of the members of other beliefs, I am not willing to cut them a lot of slack when they attack Christianity, and believe that when attacked, a good offense is the best defense. ~;=;o --haqi

Hi Mark, if a non-Christian is verbally abused by a Christian, should the Christian, back up his similarly minded friend, abstain completely, or back up the person who he truly thinks is behaving in the more loving manner? I have had on occasion, a brother PM me about something I had said and gently (and not so gently) rebuked me, along those lines if continue then the brother should bring it to me again with one or two witnesses, to get me to see an error. If I continue to persist then they should if effect, throw me into the world, until I see my error. But a Christian cannot agree or "side with" a non-believer just because he/she is more loving in tone. Due to the wide range of personal thoughts and beliefs of even CHristians, it is hard for what I described to happen in a chat room atmosphere. As I said I have had PMs about my attitude, and deservedly so. BTW, did you get my PM to YOU last week? Dan

That is wrong. Unfortunately, we all (both Christians and non-Christians) tend to lose sight of the higher cause from time to time, and get caught up in petty squabbles. It's so easy to do. Your use of the word "support" in the above sentence is interesting. If "support" means "to prevent from falling, sinking, etc.," or "assist or strengthen morally" (Websters), then yes, Christians should support each other in love. However, if "support" means "to be actively in favor of," then maybe the correct answer is no. Regardless, the Christian should love the people on both sides of the argument. You framed your question carefully and specifically....and somewhat slanted!...:) But nonetheless,it appears that some of my Christian brothers have answered it for you quite correctly. Unloving and mean-spirited manner must first be defined and agreed upon. Who is doing the judging, God or man? __________ __________ Compassion and tolerance must always be a part of all conversations, if they are left out of the equation mark, not much understanding of any point of view is ever accomplished. Generally speaking,Compassion for our fellow human being, and his point of view, is of utmost importance for any understanding and intelligent dialog to transpire. And tolerance also must be maintained at some acceptable level in order for compassion to take root. Christian and non-Christian alike!! You know Mark, we could add non everywhere you did not to Christian.... and take off the non...from Christian... every place you put it....OR...we could assign the word person/ fellow human being/.... instead of Christian or non-Christian... to the entire question and that would read much more compassionately!...and then not slanted at all!! Mark,this manner of forum is not a very conducive vehicle for Christ's followers to be at their best, though most do a wonderful job anyway. As Christians most all people here have been very compassionate and tolerant of all others. And I am very proud to say that I am a Christian. And more than that Mark, I am grateful to God for His grace and loving kindness for making it possible for me to be a Christian~!! All praise and honor be unto Him!! I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ it is the power of God unto salvation to all men who will believe. Christians are not afforded the same rights any more as non-Christians. They are, for lack of a better word, becoming a minority. Their Voice....that is!!. But fear Not because even just One Christian and God = a majority! But then I am immediately reminded of this saying... 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
