why is there so much evil in the world?

Universe 1.0, that's why. It's worse that Windows 1.0.

As for the TV evangelist, he has to be the kind of person he is. I think that if there is a hell, it is here on earth. Maybe being a televangelist. Do you think most of these evil people are that happy? I doubt it.

My friend and I were talking about these mobsters who were making $600 million a year and living, holed up in a scuzzy part of Jersey, ultimately only having girlfriends who will sleep with them for money and "friends" that would shoot them to advance their position. Some quality of life.

I don't think the people that are taking advantage of others are having that good a time doing it to be honest with you. There is no one that I can think of that I'd trade lives with. And while money does solve many problems, there are things that it won't fix, like health, personality or relationship problems.

I won't say these are all "acts of God" but I will say, that your spiritual transactions are like any other bank transactions. And people who sh*t on other people, tend to ultimately get sh*t upon. People who are kind, on average receive kindness.

Scott, I read your website and it seems to me you are just another elitist click with a slogan. If you really believe that humanist manifesto diatribe meet in a homeless shelter, meet in a bus stop or somewhere where destitute people are. Don't raise money to lock yourself away in a clubhouse away from real people.

Remember Scott, "money is the root of all evil."

Outside of that I don't disagree with your ideas or your goals providing you take it to the people. If you hide it away in your tree-fort you look like juveniles.

"If the bark on the tree in the backyard suddenly turned into text, telling me how to lead a better life, heck I would believe?" Maybe there is a text on the tree and you just can't see it.

Anyway about your secular humanist website, hilarious! I can't believe how dogmatic secularism is these days. I especially like how you drop the name of practically every philosopher known to mankind. Lumping Aristotle and Kant together as "team secular" is a first.

I know you've been told what to say about secular humanism by your group leader, and you say it, and don't doubt that the whole truth is contained in glib parrot phrases because that is how you've been brain washed.

From your site, "Ethics - THIRD "We affirm that moral values derive their source from human experience. Ethics is autonomous and situational needing no theological or ideological sanction." I don't think Aristotle would have agreed but I think most child molesters would.

Everyon has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and make no mistake about it "Secular Humanism" is a religion, your manifesto is no different than the Nicene Creed.
