I once read a book entitled "God spoke Tibetian", it started with an evangelist who had spent nearly his entire life gaining entrance into Tibet in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the early 1900's it was uncommon for any westerner to be allowed entrance and only by divine intervention was he allowed in and ultimately found at the door of a man which would be influential in translating the word of God into the Tibetian language. This man he met had been of a royal lineage but was falsely accused of a crime and had fled from the city. This is how the trial went: A ruling priest takes drugs and then calls upon spirits to give him guidance. In Christianity we call it possession. Well this accused man was brought before him and after the charges were read the priest now fully possessed as proved by super human strength and a completely different visage glared at him and condemned him to death. The man escaped having a foreknowledge of the outcome and with the help of his most trusted servants and his great wealth had started a new life in a beautiful hidden mountain valley. After coming into contact with the western evangelist he soon received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and entrusting everything to his steward went off to obey the calling of God on his life. He had a great desire to translate the word of God into his native tongue and to see the shackles of spiritual bondage fall off his people but the obstacles were tremendous.

The people believe in something called the circle of life and everywhere people had little things that would rotate. Beggars had them, children had them, everyone had them from the time they were born till the time they died. Some were placed in rivers so the currents would keep them rotating. To not have them rotate was a disgrace so great was their superstition. There were some people who were the poorest of the poor in the world. The only thing they had was the clothes on their backs. They didn't live indoors for the most part and would hire themselves out as human scarecrows in the fields in order to eat. Material possessions were not even seemingly desired so they were considered blessed by some of the populace rather than pitied. Of course very few lived past the age of 30 due to the elements.

You talk about peace in Tibet but from what I had read in the book I saw poverty, ignorance, and very little hope for the future. Is this the enlightenment of Buddha you speak about?

Braggin on the Buddha,
"my God & Prophet is greater, mightier and holier than yours, is the cause of much that perpetuates the ignorance, over and over again."
Why then, if that is true are you the one trying to convince us how much nobler Buddhism is, by denigrating Christ, and Christians? What exactly is your intention here? Are you proselytizing here for converts. For my own part I find your arguments to be very un Buddha like. If Buddhism is so superior to Christianity, then why do you think it is that Buddhist countries let their people live in such squalor and misery? Maybe it's just their karma. Besides, why care when you have all those Christian relief organizations giving out free food and clothing. Maybe that's too harsh, but if you can dish it out then you should be able to take a little as well. I have to agree with the assessment of others here that you came onto this thread in a less than forthright and somewhat deceptive manner. My (spiritual discernment)spider senses were tingling from the word go with you. Of course you are within your rights to post here and you should be welcomed. Just don't expect a free ride, that's all. If your looking for some like minded people come over to the "should God be replaced" thread. I know, I know, It's a stupid question. But everyone has a real cool name just like you, and they are very accepting of alternative views of reality. You would fit right in, believe me. "if Jesus is to return, he will return in your hearts" where do you get that from, not the Bible, that's for sure.
Got to run.
Greg

You are full of bogus history. The Swiss have been for hundreds of years the most warlike of peoples. Not having enough of war themselves, they hired out as mercenaries and formed the core of French and Papal armies.
As for Buddhists, the Sri Lankan buddhists are engaged in a terrible civil war with the Tamils today. The Vietnamese, and Laotian, and Khmer Rouge Buddhists fought a horrible war in the middle of the 20th century. The Buddhist Chinese frequently invaded and fought the Tibetan Buddhists for many years. The Thai and Burmese Buddhists fought each other for hundreds of years. The Japanese Buddhists were the cruelist and most militant imperialists for hundreds of years. All in all, Buddhists are no more peaceful than Mahometans, Christians, or Jews.

Re: "... if Jesus is to return, he will return in your hearts."

Very true. Jesus will return to YOUR heart too. (If you want him to, that is.)

Re: "Have you any idea the kind of suffering, torture, death and wars that have been fought in the name of your God? Christian to Christian and brought horrible death to every continent on the earth?"

It's sad, isn't it? My advice: Don't let the actions of evil men, using the name of Christ to somehow justify their selfish intentions, keep you from receiving the peace/joy/fulfillment/life that Christ is offering you.

Best wishes,

I2
