Hi Jim: I thought you had written me off after my last rant... It's hard to get bent out of shape after looking at the last earnings report....wheeee! These boys are delivering the goods. My take on it all: 1. INTC is apologizing to and shedding crocodile tears for the MM's. 2. INTC knows that INTC dropped the ball (ref. caminogate, the 100 mHz FSB, the MTH, and losing the chipset bz to Via), not RMBS or RDRAM technology. As an organization, they may be slightly delusional but they're not that dumb. Their reorgs acknowledge the mea culpas. 3. Publicly complaining provides chipzilla greater leverage w/ RMBS in their own negotiations (I think Edlestone has it right), reduces spot / market price pressure on RDRAM (good for the P4), and keeps the MM dogs at bay. It may even serve as a trojan horse for AMD. 4. Meanwhile, RMBS management is setting the business model up to deliver CSCO-like numbers for the next 60 Q's, major surprises notwithstanding. Whooppeee! BP
