frederick, this sector is in a frenzy right now...a myriad of events and evolutions happening taking shape quickly...hard to predict what will emerge in the future...perhaps pure optical switches without e-o-e conversion within the yr?(btw, agree that it cannot be done right now)...perhaps simon cao's vision of a switchless network within 3 yrs?...avanex has already split the photon to a 1000 channels in the lab...and there is also fDWDM, which will split these lambda's into another 100-1000 sub-frequencies in the future...perhaps with millions of lamdbas on a single fiber and with the development of the so called "smart photon", perhaps switching will ultimately be a thing of the past...but we will see...what i love about this mkt.(although not as much as last yr) is that the mkt rewards all POTENTIAL players until a winner is finally declared...most of us will see this kind of mania just once in our lifetime so we must do the DD now and capitalize on this oppurtunity of a lifetime...jmo. mact
