RE:"Forget Rambus - you have forgotten your own slogan.
MHz Sells - and when Intel has the fastest processor available with the Pentium 4 - and the system prices are reasonable - the Pentium 4 will sell - with Rambus memory or core memory or."

Slogan...it's my understanding that Mhz sells (TM-McMannis)is a law (G). Of course it's subject to interpretation...like IPC, so we'll have to see.

This is the main reason I haven't given up on Intel and hold out hope for the future.
I don't think we disagree that much. I clearly think that Intel will sell as many Willamettes are they want to or need to. They will cut price to Dell and send that $70 bill if they have to.

RE:"Once SDRAM and/or DDR SDRAM chip sets - and 0.13 micron Pentium 4 (Northwood) are available in Q3 of 2001, the Intel manufacturing engine will be revved up to make AMD's life - shall we say - "very interesting"."

You're preaching to the choir. I've been saying this for months.
If and when it comes to pass (coupled with the demise of Rambus) it will be yet another vision come true just as the demise of Timna was that I predicted 6 months before it happened. OTOH, there have been a lot of others predicting the demise of Rambus that that part of it will be lost in a crowd.

How do you see Clamjammer and Sludgepumper vs P4 w/DDR and Itanium provided they would release about the same time, just for comparisons sake? Leave out your arguement the P4 on .13 w/DDR will release 6 months earlier (it won't, wink)...blah blah blah...

Jim

Re: The only price I've seen for a "special order" 1.2 GHz ThumperTurd id $2500

That's for a machine with a 19" monitor, 60 gig hard drive, and $400 video card. If you want to compare CPUs in systems, configure them similarly:
