McJimbo - Re: "How do you see Clamjammer and Sludgepumper vs P4 w/DDR and Itanium provided they would release about the same time, "

First - they WON'T BE RELEASED about the same time.

The Pentium 4 will - hopefully - be released next month - and the ITanium has already been released for pilot production.

The ClodHamster and SludgePumper are still being designed - and shouldn't see first silicon before mid 2001 or later (I think I'm being generous here).

Once they are released, AMD will then begin trying to get infrastructure support - chip sets, motherboards, OS's , application software, etc.

I'd give them another year - mid 2002 - before you'd actually see them running 64 bit software.

By that time, my guess is that Intel will have so many variants of 0.13 micron Pentium III Xeons, Fosters, and 0.13 micron Fosters - and Dual CPU variants ready for release - that AMD's collective head will be spinning.

Remember - Server chip sets with for Willamette/Foster using SDRAM - will be available from the get-go from ServerWorks - and I'm sure DDR versions will follow later next year.
