Aren't you saying the same thing I said above? Remember I'm simply trying to understand what was the thinking behind a graduated tax.

What you said represents the rationalization for the war on wealth(you don't understand). I pointed out that the liberals thought they were doing something fair and good, but they were mistaken. You only provided the reasoning. I denied the reasoning's validity, not the validity of your stating it.

If I'm incorrect that that was the reasoning how come your explanation sounds a lot like mine? Or am I missing some significant point.

You are. Why did you choose to make that observation out of the countless others possible? Why report that particular one? To show how insidiously embedded is the war on wealth? I doubt it.

BTW my friend wasn't stating what he believed to be right, but what he was taught was the reasoning behind the graduated tax.

Now we're getting to the milieu that is killing everyone. Both of you are innocent but neither of you march.

You seem to lose these subtleties when you are on a rant about the socialistic tendencies of the government.

I lose nothing. You are so embedded in the system that even though they beat you regularly, you still think it feels good.

If you go back to my original post I stated and still state that the graduated tax is unfair,

What you fail to understand is that no judgement about what is fair or what isn't, is valid.

but that doesn't stop me from wondering what the reasoning behind it is.

And the quiet acceptance of the unavoidable "truth" mentioned by your friend, n'est-ce pas?

You quietly accept because you have a hidden agenda. You want to retain the system because you have a pet cause and you think it's worth what you pay. You can believe whatever you want. What I don't like is your decisions pull me into the tyranny of the majority all of whom believe they get something for nothing as long as this system persists. This system forces you to do evil to people.
