How did 25% become a third? You didn't add back sales tax and other levies. Second, I do everything in my power that is within the law to reduce the amount of tax I pay. I could just see the patriots throwing only some bales of tea overboard, only their fair share. Third, when is the march to lower taxes? November 7. Forth, what do you suggest I do? Vote. Didn't a lot of people vote for Bush senior thinking they were going to get a tax cut and got a tax rise instead? This is like your choice to express why there is a graduated income tax. It's much like the reasoning behind why taxes shouldn't have been lowered during the '80s. The reason was it would cause the budget deficit to widen and therefore interest rates would rise. Or Dick Armey's retreat from the flat tax because it wasn't doable. It wasn't good because it wasn't doable. Thus the country will only always just muddle along and grumble with envy at the few beneficiaries of society's wealth. The thinking is that misery for everyone is better than allowing someone else avoid misery. That's socialism and totalitarian. Call it gallows humor or cynicism.....or call it acknowledging reality but the politicians can not be trusted on either side of the aisle to do what they say they will. Politicians reflect the will of their constituents. That's their role in a democracy. Thus you are saying that the people can't be trusted. Nothing good is doable by your reasoning so you might as well go for the bad. That's where the misery gets it source.
