I think she thinks she finally found a boyfriend<g>

dailynews.yahoo.com

Stopping by to see the Pakistani general after the coup, then Assad with Syria still on the terrorist list, and now the bizarre North Coreans...supporting democracy and freedom at its finest<g> And they call Milo a dictator and Hitler???Just goes to show you that these days u get some nukes and missiles and u get respect and an audience (and in the case of North Coreans, numerous tons of rice!).

In general, I agree about your assessment in the Middle East conflict. I feel sorry for the Palestinians still. Unfortunately, their only weapon remains suicide bombings again and I am surprised we haven't seen any yet...I think Rabin was the best hope for peace and the peace precess died when he died. What has been happening since then has been a travesty.

That Chechen link earlier was really hilarious!

George

Re: Ironically like Nuclear Weapons in Soviet Era, Israel is the only common denominator in the otherwise militant, poor and disfranchised Arab World that will be at each other throats, far worse than Kuwait...
This is like blaming South Africa for the terrible problems of the continent....

Well, ironically, the same argument can be levelled against Israel: what does the original kibbutz mindset have in common with Shas? As I said, Israelis revel amidst Arab hostility and right now, Barak's drive towards a national-unity cabinet shows how prone Israelis are to entrench themselves in such a siege mentality. Indeed without the Arab threat, the Israeli fabric might just collapse and end up like Lebanon --the once little Switzerland of the Middle East.... Well, Israel could opt for "the Luxembourg of the Middle East" nickname.

It's long overdue for Israelis to face the music: the original Zionist dream of setting up a safe haven for abused Jews from Europe has turned into a fascistic nightmare wherein the victim's been recast as the torturer....

Besides, who could seriously take for granted that the 5,900,000 Jews living in the U.S. or the 522,000 Jews living in France or the 250,000 Jews in Great Britain (source: Newsweek) absolutely need a fortified police state around Jerusalem.... just in case some anti-Semitic dictator will come around! Hence there's the widespread feeling that the State of Israel is more a front state to vex the Arab world as a whole than a genuine homeland to harbor stray Jews.

Furthermore, I'd even say that the project of a Jewish nation-state is somewhat insulting to your forefathers: discrimination, hardship and ghettoization are part of the Jewish history and therefore they make up Jews' cultural legacy. I mean, a Jew who no longer comes to grips with ostracism is like a Mexican-American parvenu who brags about multiculturalism but who can't utter a single phrase in Spanish! That is not to say that I want the Jews to live like outcasts in Europe, the US or elsewhere but disowning one's ethnic fate may lead to a fool's paradise....

Gus.

Goldnow, I believe the world have to thank President Bill Clinton for the bloodshed in Israel. This man doesn't have a clue as what is at stake there, for both Arabs and Jews! For him, it is "good ole boy, we can do it" bullshit. On 28 Sept. Israelis and Palestinians negotiators had wrapped-up three days of US brokered talks in Washington D.C. For the first time since Camp David in July, peace seems to be on hand. Twenty four hours later the promise turned to ashes as Israelis and Palestinians exchange fire. It was all Clinotns fault; he created false hopes! Without consulting and brining in major Arab players, Jordanians, Saudis Egyptians, he tried to do it all by himslef and his country-boy charm!

I believe Egyptians and Jordaninas could have helped to convince Arafat, while the US was working on Barak! He pushed Barak against the wall and tried to obtain from him something he couldn't give. (He did the same to Rabin and signed his death warrant!)

Thanks to Clinton, Arafat will now decalre the Palastinian State, which is not a bad deal, as far as Israel is concerned. (After all Arafat never wanted to have a country to be given to him by the Americans, the bloody fool wanted to fight to win one! ggg )

In believe Israel will do it for him! The electricty, water, and all Israeli supplies to Palestinian Independent State in the Gaza and the West Bank will stop. A wall will be built to protect Israel against the outsiders. Hundereds of thousands of the Arabs that worked in Israel will loose jobs and have to be fed by Arafat and his Arab brothers!(this is good for Israeli economy becuae it will reduce unemplpyment is Israel.)

No Jewish electricity, no Jewish water, and no rubber bullets. Some of the colonies will be evacuated, but who cares. Then Israel need to address the question of Arabs living within Israel. If they want, then can go and live under Arafat, if they don't they can stay and behave and benefit from the rights the have in a democracy. That is the only solution to stop this hemorrage!
