tradermike, I live in Portland,Or and last night was at a party where a friend of mine who is in software sales told me he was in SF last week and there was lots of doom and gloom among those he visited with. Sign of a bottom?

He used to live in the area and still has some close contacts. Some of the stories I am hearing are pretty scary. CEO's with margin calls etc. Maybe that behavior in Asia is about to spread to America somewhat like the Asian Flu did a few years back. Regards

Mike do you read the Wall street Underground ? Nick Gaurino has been saying for three years we would see a meltdown. I have been waiting but monies seem to only shift to different investment arenas. How is the price of gold holding up ?

ok tradermike, i'll bite, even though i believe that a lot of things you're talking about here will happen when the bull market finally ends, are we near that now, i don't know.

so i'll play the devil's advocate.

why shouldn't we take your thread here started in october after a major slide as a contrary indicator, along with the big bear on the cover of barrons 2 weeks ago, the big put buying over the last week or two, etc. etc. etc.

plus you add in some oversold trin, rsi, and moneyflow indicators that have marked major bottoms.

can't we just assume we are seeing the normal bearish bantering that happens at all bottoms and we should have our normal seasonal rally into january.

tell me why this time is different.
