Joe - RE: "If Mustang is actually faster than P4 in vast majority of benchmarks, it may actually create as many or more problems for Intel, than AMD."

I think how the P4 does initially will depend on how the media (I don't mean Tom and Anand) spins it and how much systems cost relative to Athlon systems.

For all we know, the media could Celeronize the P4 or they could Athlonize it. ;)

With their VERY agressive pricing AMD should have a one-up in system pricing.

Joe,

re: close in benchmarks

First i have to believe that sse2 optimization will help PIV blow some benchmarks wide open.

And then it becomes a my benchmark vs your benchmark game.

And when it comes to PR etc Intel has AMD soundly beat, just remember the MMX bs that the market responded to wildly.

I think folks here underestimate Intels market power, the power of MHZ sells and the fickleness of consumer market.

best regards,

Kash
