Thanks Tom......I figured the ace in the hole was the lawsuits. Conformation that rmbs rightfully will be collecting all those future $$'s. What is your basis that these suits will come to a conclusion in the near term? If they do, and if rmbs comes out on top.....we have all seen what kind of big moves certain stocks can make once the ambiguity is removed as you stated. I mean sheez...I am sitting here thinking about a move from $60 to $200 as being pretty far fetched, then I think back to dell, aol, cmgi, qcom and etc....and it confirms that these moves are not only possible but probable under the right circumstances.

I think those circumstances just may become present in rmbs.....and qcom, extr and jdsu, for that matter.

I agree on the markets. I think the lack of selling and buying today kind of confirms that maybe the worst is over. A little up and down movement in the 3250 - 3550 range and then hopefully a breakout. I bailed on my jan qcom calls today and grabbed some more march 100 extr's. I'd like to grab a little more qcom stock, more extr march and jdsu march 100's and one or two other goodies, but I am going to be patient and let them come to me....or not. I am sitting where I wouldn't mind grabbing a few more goodies on the cheap, but at the same time, I have a few goodies already, so either up or down is fine with me right now.

I think MSDW just came out with an initiate on the Q....Looking at $160 target.....hmmm, sure does look tempting in the low $70's, but I will sit on what I have and see if it comes down any. If it does, Horay, I'll grab some on the cheap, if not and if it goes up, then I guess I'll have to be happy with that as well<ggg>

Have a great evening

I thought this was a nice confirmation day too for the markets, gentle up/down (well gentle for today's markets) and ending up for the Dow and not too shabby for the Naz.
Do you think RMBS will have a monster day like Qcom did on the 29th of Dec? (In San Diego on the 30th of December was the first time I've ever seen a stock price be on the front page of the newspaper. Our local paper, the San Diego Union had half the front page covered with "Qualcomm stock goes up 156!")
Someone saved it for me and I have it at home: if the Q ever gets up to the 200 range again I'll frame it and hang it on the wall.
Is Rambus going to do that? If so it would be dangerous to be out on any particular day, wouldn't it?
What fun we have.

Is G.Moore naming RMBS a gorilla (and GMST) ?

from the gglistserv :

Gang,
I have been following the Rambus discussion with great interest as I recently bought some and some Qualcomm too, having liquidated some holdings that were not gorilla game holds. I also believe that we could Gemstart to this mix of "IP only" gorilla candidates. But the challenges against this model that have been voiced are really thoughtful. Is there an historical precedent for an IP only play (presumably ARM and MIPs cores have some correlation, but neither has been a world beater). There is something really antagonistic about holding an industry ransom to your patent position -- maybe that creates the business equivalent of bad karma and causes grief somewhere along the line one way or another (nationalization,
for example, might not be out of the question in some cases). Anyway, it just makes me proud to be part of this list.
