I was living in Fremont when BART was first built, and Fremont was the southern end of the line. I remember reading about the technological marvels involved and why no engineer was needed. On the first demo, the train slowly drove right off the end of the track in Fremont. That is called building confidence in your ridership. <g> I guess it just wanted to get to San Jose whether the brain dead voters there approved or not.
