Note on Off topic discussions - Are people here bothered by this. If so I will stop. Goes without saying that it doesn't bother me. This thread needs posts anyway. Oh, really heavy duty topics that have cropped up on other threads, like abortion and all the associated issues, do bother me. JMO, however. Tony

OT Retaliation. Let Lennie Harris lead off and play right field. Start jawing with Clemens. Challenge him and fight him. Both get tossed. Just like hockey. I am just dreaming here of course. When Clemens was compared to Bob Gibson, Gibson asked not to be compared to the cowardly Clemens. Gibson used intimidation on the mound but was very precise with his pitches and willing to take his lumps when he came to bat. He is Black and pitched in the 60's but earned and was treated with respect by his peers. Clemens barely can get the support of the Yankee fans. They all wish that David Wells was back on their team instead. Getting Clemens was a Steinblunder of the greatest magnitude, not because he is necessarily less talented than Wells, but because it made the classiest organization in baseball classless as the owner and manager defend this miscreant. Torre was an embarrassment as he blamed the press for the incident. Joe was a favorite of mine. Now its back to clueless Joe for me. mike PS Clemens singlehandedly killed the positively buoyant attidude of the season series as well when he beaned Piazza and now he has cast a pall over the WS as well.
