NY is the center of 'ClownBuxdom', and the NY Art Mkt is the pinnacle of that, so that is a meaningful anecdote IMO. That jibs with what I see here.... where the most speculative fringe stuff is being cut... Finovia, a commercial lender here is in deep doo doo. The cranes NEVER stop putting stuff up until well AFTER the end is obvious. The powers that be assume it's better to 'finish the project' and hope something good happens.

Mike, do prices for art fluctuate with the economy (like NY real estate obviously does)? I collect some art, and have noticed that prices for works by major artists have risen dramatically just in the past few years. Not that a collapse would concern me... I collect for personal rather than investment purposes, and would only sell to avoid living in a box. -ng-
