The NDX-100 futures down about 100 from regular close. MSFT down 0.75, CSCO down 3.75, INTC down .25. These are down in spite of a better than expected earnings by CPQ. Throw the baby out with bathwater...

Nortel Networks (NT) 63 5/16 -3 5/8: -- Update -- Overall Q3 sales come up short at $7.4 bln, short of consensus of $7.63 bln; specifically, Optical Internet segment growth of 90% was short of analyst expectations but mgmt contends Q3 is seasonally slow due to customer's scaling back production during late summer months, particularly in Europe; also talk on the call of greater-than-usual revenue recognition issues meaning product shipped but too early to recognize revenue on income statement; stock trading at 51 1/4.
