Cary,
This election is not about the people you mentioned, but the society you want live in.
One is Socialist and the other a limited capitalist.
You choice!!!!!
It is a free country.

If you are a fatcat, an Ayatollah, or a bigot, then you probably vote Republican.

What an insulting, small minded thing to say from someone that I thought I respected. YOU should apologize or go join the guys throwing rocks in Israel.

I've been thinking (yes, danger Will Robinson!) that perhaps those of us that are fiscally conservative but all in favor of civil liberty should join the GOP and then burn the sickening planks out of the party. Let the right wingers form their own party... Kick them out! I think change is easier from within. Perhaps Cheney doesn't fight windmills but will use a position of power to show that you can love a gay person and still be moral?

BTW, I am still "undecided" but the more sickening remarks I read like yours, the more I tend to do the opposite of what you desire.

Ah, now, heres the rub. I'm independent, but would be a dyed-in-the-wool Republican if not for their stance on most social issues. I despise the religious right, I don't like the NRA boys uncompromising stance( Sorry, there is zero reason not to have AK47's illegal, etc. Hunting stuff, personal handguns for lawabiding folks, fine ), I don't like intolerance for gays.
George is a fairly tolerant guy, however, and Gore is the most unlikable human being I've ever seen in politics since Dick Armey so... sigh, the lesser of to not great choices.

Cary,

Re:If you are a fatcat, an Ayatollah, or a bigot, then you probably vote Republican.

I cannot believe this came from you Cary. I would have expected a more reasoned response than applying the sterotype of the past 50 years to the Republican Party. Fact is that GWB received much of the minority vote in Texas, as did Governors in many states such as NY. Yours is not a line of reasoning, but a line of rhetoric, and most people recognize it as such, thankfully. Not to mention the fact tht it is intellectually lazy to attempt to maintain civil dsicourse with name calling and sterotypes used instead of sound arguments.

If you oppose a woman's right to choose, vote Republican. If you think a candidate should visit a school that bans inter-racial dating and say nothing, vote for Bush.

Voting on one issue is dangerous since there is no person with whom we agree 100% on every issue. And BTW, where did you get the idea Bush backs the idea of banning inter-racial dating? More rhetoric and scare tactics. FWIW, is a woman's right to choose more important than the unborn life? You put out the argument that if someone is attacked because of her sexual orientation, that doesn't qualify as a hate crime. Isn't this worse than any hate crime? You are inconsistent, to say the least in your reasoning.

If she is attacked because of her sexual orientation, that doesn't qualify as a hate crime if you are a Republican!

No Republican would support any law which would let an attacker off the hook, regardless of sexual orientation. This is ludicrous. There are already hate crimes on the books, so this is really not even an issue.

No offense intended, but when I went to school in Philadelphia, I would often hear ignorant arguments like the ones you are making. The governmentt created AIDS, or Republicans are only for the rich. Entirely baseless and ignorant but I expected no more since most on the subway probably were not educated. It ALWAYS surprises me when someone like yourself makes the same arguments.
