Richard - A vote of confidence in Datek for swing trading in an IRA: I have had a Datek IRA since May, and am very happy with the service. They don't screw up the accounting, NYSE transactions execute well because they use SuperDOT, and phone customer service is generally prompt and knowledgeable. However, you can't be in a hurry (ie, daytrade), because not a day goes by that there isn't some kind of brief slowdown, sometimes necessitating changing servers. Combined with a cheap data service like I use, I think Datek is the tops for IRA swingtrading. BTW, any delays in transferring your account will be on your current broker's end. Fido took 3 weeks to xfer mine, but Datek had it online 2 days thereafter. The big thing you have to watch for is close stops - they often trigger on lowball regional exchange quotes, and some Datek reps give you a hard time about reversing them. Gotta have time and sales from a service to back you up. - Mike
