OT LS, . Clinton and Gore don't really believe in anything, other than getting themselves elected. I cannot believe nobody else sees this, or at least 40% of the population. BTW, I entirely agree with your stance on the NRA and religious zealots compromising the potential of the GOP. FWIW, I am also an independent but would pull the lever for Brittany Spears before I would vote for Gore. Brian

OT I don't think socialism and Social Security, a "feel-good policy" that didn't "wreak havoc", are the same. I think "caring" and "trying" are better than mean spirited self-interest. The "state and local level" is where segregation and Jim Crow were supported and maintained and where separation of church and state is currently being thwarted. This reminds me. After the Brown vs. Board of Education decision came down, all southern senators, but three, signed a declaration opposing it. One of the 3 was Al Gore Sr. So, whatever your impression of Al Gore, you must respect his lineage.
