Hi Gene Parrott; Why are you talking about "minds" on the Rambus thread? That isn't the body part I associate with the investors here.

What's intriguing is the timing. With P4 supposedly scheduled to be announced next month, this expensive PIII promotion has to raise questions in some minds.

Why advertise what you can't sell in quantity? I believe Intel has said that P4 sales won't cross (surpass) PIII sales until 2002. There is even another relatively major PIII improvement coming about mid next year, Tualatin that is hoped to be >1.2 GHz. Long live the PIII!

Good point. It ties in with the positioning of the PIII, not the P4, as the Christmas "offer".

Now we just have to get Dell to start doing a B Series promotion. <G>

Speaking of Dell, the latest Dell4Me catalog (Oct 2000) has a big bug (logo) on their systems page (page 5) that says "includes RDRAM" in big gold letters in a blue oval background. There are two bugs on the preceding page, one says "New!" (for the 4100 series) and the other says "1 year of AOL Membership Included ...". As you flip to pages 4 and 5, the RDRAM bug is just about the first thing you see.
