I don't think this will affect Q4 EPS but it may make it tough to get to 7.2M K7's

Intel are leaving a hole as big as a barn door in the 1.0 GHz - 1.4 GHz range. AMD are going to back up their truck. And you don't think this will affect ASPs?

Beats me why AMD bother with the Duron. Give the customers what they want - more Athlons. By all means segment the market but do it by introducing the PIV-killer Athlon V to take back the high end (if Intel ever manage to gain it).

Petz, is it really possible for AMD to have made shifts like that? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to wafer starts but it is my understanding that these things take months to change.

But I really agree with you and Gopher, why waste fab space when you can sell all the Athlons you make?! I just want to know that it's possible. Maybe because there was unused fab space in Dresden?

TIA,

Dave
