Not sure about that. We just had the road out in front of our house retarred again- and I was just thinking how GLAD I am the government does that, and that I am not responsible for it. Number one- contractors are just unavailable at any price right now in the Bay Area. I've tried ot hire one and I can't- but my street is recovered even though I would never have been able to get anyone to do it. And I don't have to coordinate with my neighbors. Heck- did the fences around our property and got screwed by 2/3's of the neighbors. Glad the government deals with my neighbors and not me. So I'm not sure you are right that private gives you better product and good service. I like what the government gives me. I've been thinking about it a lot- and I'm happy with what they do for the most part. I'm even glad they keep an eye out for my safety where free market drugs and food and toys and cars are concerned- 'cause the free market would be happy to kill me if it added to their bottom line. I sure as shootin' don't trust the private sector to educate my child.
