Shouldn't the analysts be flogged since they conjured up the higher expectations rather than Nortel?

SJS, but again, ask yourself why there was a panic. It was because analysts convinced us to pay ridiculous prices for NT and dot-coms in the first place.

Did you know that Paine Webber analysts in late July upped their Price Target from 220 to 250 on JDSU?

C'mon! Get real!

My point is that people should think twice before paying such incredibly rich valuations. People should write Paine Webber (or a 100 other companies) like I did today and absolutely rake them over the coals for allowing any of their analysts to put out such irresponsible Price Targets.

Sure, we all know they are trying to say candy-coated things partly to please their clients or to get their future business, but at what point should we get angry at brokerage houses and analysts?
