In a Reuters news article today Ann Curtis, Calpine's chief financial officer, said the average price for power Calpine received in the third quarter was $83.32 per megawatt versus $48.74 per megawatt one year ago. To me this explains better than anything else I have seen as to why Calpine had such a good third quarter. Anybody have any comments as to how long $80 per megawatt for wholesale prices for electrical power will last?
