Taken from the cpq board. Anything you come across to back up the server statement?

"Fortuna did do a report on CPQ. I have an minor account the ML just to get the reports. He just reiterated his accumulate rating. However, the report seemed very upbeat. Headline of report, "Impressive 3rd Quarter, too bad Euro causes downward revision in Qtr 4." Quotes from the report:
"Consumer PC sales were remarkably strong, growing 45% in the quarter to $2.1 Billion." Commercial PC sales grew 28%.
"The real driver was an extraordinary 41% growth rate in industry standard servers...It appears that CPQ has eaten into Dell's growth in this area through competitive pricing and improved perception around the brand."

DJ: Your knowledge and ability to apply it in your DD are superior to my own - I am more inclined to take information and make generalizations, which permits me to "pass" on storing the highly technical stuff in my mental database.

But don't for one minute think I am implying I am better. All I'm saying is that if you hope to debate really technical stuff, I would have to go to the library!

In regards to Bluetooth "air traffic" fears, Dallas and Austin airports already have wireless lounges equipped with IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol without fear of interruption to communication or navigation equipment.

Unfortunately, 802.11 and Bluetooth are incompatible. Again, cost (and size) thus-far negate having both an 802.11 card and a Bluetooth card in the same device.

Ericcson plans to release a Bluetooth cell-phone headset by the end of 2000, and IBM wants to release a ThinkPad with a Bluetooth slot to optimize radio reception.

As you indicated, Bluetooth is not an "only". There's HomeRF, DECT and infrared.

I have every confidence that Michael Dell will not let complacency or arrogance stop him from implementing leading-edge technologies as quickly as humanly possible. He would have to be living in a vacuum to not see what has happened to Corel and Lucent.
