The way countries typically deal with debt of this magnitude (at least if you look at history) is to inflate their way out of it.

Bingo!! And another euphemism for inflation of this kind is called printing money and by default, devaluing the currency.

Japan is about to be forced into just such a scheme, and Europe will not be far behind it if they don't take great pains to restructure their entitlement programs.

Entitlements are great... just so long as they don't outpace the ability of the economy to finance them.

That's something Gore has yet to learn...
