Poor question as pointed out before. There are extremely few times in our country's history where that question couldn't be answered as a positive. Few people back up in their natural progression of graduating from college/high school getting jobs being promoted getting raises etc. Basically your progression in the past 8, 10, 20 years had little to do the government. It's a non starter.

I think it's genuine that most folks are happier today than they were under Reagan-Bush. It's just that there's been an incredible GOPwinger public relations whisper movement to smear Gore as a "liar." And it's taken hold. He's convinced lots of middle to upper middle class folks to question any trust they might put into Gore as a leader. I think this is the only reason why Bush has the showing he does in the recent polling.

By the way, what were the Dow and Nasdaq exchanges trading at when Clinton-Gore took over? What was the nation's unemployment rate? And did not the Clinton-Gore Administration find good jobs within the civilian economy for all the Cold War-downsized military folk? And hasn't, for the most part, the price of oil been reasonable during these past eight years?

Heck, maybe it was Bush's candidacy itself which helped pump up oil interests--the stronger Bush got in the polls, higher also became the price of oil. I'm not writing that this is the case, merely drawing a parallel consideration.
