<< AMD said that they will have 1.5 GHz in Q1, some roadmaps point to 1.7 GHz P4 in Q1. AMD didn't say anything about the timeframe beyond Q1. There were hints about Hammer starting at 2 GHz. We may hear something from the analyst conference in November. >>

Hammer will be lucky to come out in 01, and it will be on .13, from a preliminary standpoint it looks like p4 will easily scale beyond that on .13 in the same time frame.

<< But it will be a while until Intel moves to Willy core. As long as Intel has a majority of their chips on Piii core, there is not much to worry about. The only concern would be if Intel is way ahead of schedule on their .13u process and AMD is behind. >>

By Q3, and possibly Q2, they'll be making enough willys to satisfy all of the high end and most of the midrange. The only question will be whether they can get the price point attractive enough to sell into the midrange, but motherboard prices will drop with time, and a ddr/sdr chipset will likely be available by Q3.
