Jim,

Now, Intel looks like it wants to distance itself from Rambus. The problem is that who do they pull for now? Intel or Rambus? Some will stay strictly anti-Rambus where as some will bask in Rambus possibly suing Intel, saying intel is getting what they deserve. Interesting twists, hey?

Very, very interesting twists. It must be hard to decide who's the lesser of the two evils <G>.

If Rambus sues Intel will you then be anti-Intel?

I would still be pro-Rambus, without necessarily being anti-Intel. For example, I'm not anti-AMD in the sense that I don't root aginst them -- I just think that AMD will always be an also-ran, which of course means I'm not pro-AMD, either. By the same token, I'm not anti-Via, anti-Micron, et cetera. I just think that in the end, they'll all be paying royalties to Rambus. As the highest-volume shipper of potentially "offending" products, having Intel pay Rambus the regular royalty rate (I'm guessing that they pay a reduced rate) would certainly add to the Rambus bottom line. Then Rambus just needs to keep filing patents to continue to lock up future technological developments. That's where the real race lies. The pressure to remove Rambus from the picture is not going to ease up.

Dave

Hi Jim McMannnis; Re trying to decide whether to hate Rambus or Intel... A pox on both their houses. Rambus for being dishonest, Intel for treating their own engineers like dirt.
