I believe Reagan decided to accept greater domestic spending from Congress to get greater military spending. I can't prove this. It is unfortunate but we did get an end to the cold war and the hope that many in the sugjugated world will be lifted out of their socialist misery.

Cubfoot: You are either too young to know or too ignorant to know that Clinton/Gores first two budgets were status quo, deficits till the end of time. Not until 94 did they get religion about the budget.
