The S&L deregulation started because they were losing money left and right to money market funds. During the Democrat super-inflation recession of the 1980-1982, everyone was pulling money out of S&Ls and banks which had statuatory limits on savings rates. It might help you read a few history books and identified what the genesis of these probems were. Who was going to leave their money in the S&L for 5.25 percent when they could go into money market funds for 14 percent and CDs as high as 21%? Money was leaving the local economies out the front door of the S&Ls and banks.

Your taxes will steadily increase under a Gore administration. As you turn the corner from a socialist government to a from each according to his abilities and to each according to his needs you will be remorseful. Want to be told where to work? Want to be told where to live? There have been many attempts at this type life and it never works. People need incentive. How are you going to feel when you know that no matter what you do or how hard you work you will only receive minimal subsistence allowance and government will make your decisions for you. A lousy way to live but one Gore would love if he or Clinton could head it.

Liberals believe that the problems facing America and the world, such as environmental despoliation, the systematic waste of public resources for private profit, persistent unemployment concentrated among women and racial minorities, and the maldistribution of wealth, power, and income, are not mere aberrations of the capitalist system - they are the capitalist system.
Liberals seek a society in which the production and distribution of goods and services is based on public need instead of private profit. Liberals believe that the use of profitability as the overriding criterion for the production and distribution of goods and services usually leads to decisions which harm the public welfare. This is especially true where irreplaceable natural resources are concerned.
Liberals believe that in order for political democracy to work well in a post-industrial society, it must be complemented by economic democracy. Liberals feel that unless at least "the commanding heights of the economy" are socially owned and democratically controlled, those corporations will use their enormous political and economic clout to circumvent and block political democracy. Liberals are also strong supporters of democratic planning in the economy and government.

Is this not socialism?

Socialism is a word conservatives use when they can't articulate complex and dynamic arguments in bumper sticker slogans to innocents who don't know, or can't understand

The rest of the story.

Your statement that Canada and socialist Europe are "doing fine" is laughable.

I found your post to be totally frightening. How anyone in this day and age could be so completely brain washed and programed as your post indicates you are is incredible. You swallow that whole thing without so much as a minor gag. You are so programed to parrot that which has been drilled into you that you never even see the contradiction in your own statements just to mention a couple.

1. <Canada and every country in Europe is a lot more socialist than the US and they are doing fine.>

A. Not true factually, their currency is under pressure, their health care is want and their economies are weak.

2. <a Republican gets into the White House he drives the national debt up at an accelerated rate while at the same time cutting services.>

A. Can you not see how contradictory this statement is? How does one spend less money and at the same time increase the debt?

Please share with me where you became so misinformed and twisted in your mind set; I refuse to refer to that which is in your mind as THINKING. Truly, who fed you this manifesto? With all that's happened in the last fifty years how could you still view such rabid socialism as a viable path for this country? You and the Mad Bomber have much in common. You need to do some serious cross examination of your positions. Though hesitant to say so, you are beginning to strike me as potentially dangerous to yourself and society.
Please seek some counseling.
