A market maker shorted it to a big buyer and then bought it back. There is no manipulation possible in a huge market cap company like MSFT. Only Bill Gates, Paul Allen or Fidelity would be able to manipulate MSFT and they have no reason to do so.

MS: It is simple some fund with a big position was trying to lock in their tax loss. There has been a lot of block trading going on the past week in many of the stocks that have fallen from grace. The impressive thing is that MSFT has been moving up in the face of a very sloppy market. JFD
