Now, uhh...where did that hard drive go? In addition, there is no need for hate crime legislation. If somebody is murdered, the law should be tough enough for the guilty party or parties to get their punishment. In addition, defacing places of worship is a crime and those penalities should be tough enough to dissuade people from doing such stupid things. Hate crime legislation will slow down the legal process and enrich lawyers. I was reading a story this week about a black man who killed a white child and witnesses said that he was spouting off anti-white statements. Yet, the media were not told that part of the story. For the murder, he should get the death penalty or life in prison with no chance of parole, but not because the kid was white, but because he killed somebody. How about racial profiling? If a member of the border patrol stops a Mexican at the California Mexican border for interrogation, is that racial profiling? The Gore/Lieberman racial profiling thing is a moot point becaue racial profiling is currently illegal! A cop must have just cause to detain you, and in the case of the border patrol situation, just cause would be seeing somebody running toward the US from Mexico. Do you have any idea how attorneys would love to have the opportunity to claim that the interrogation of a suspected illegal alien was prompted by racial profiling? The main points of the Gore campaign aim to divide Americans among racial and economic lines and to create an "us" vs. "them" mentality and emotional state. Inclusion should be the direction of anyone in government, not separation. Hate crime legislation divides America into many tribes. In fact, I we should start a fund to back somebody who challenges affirmative action if they are discriminated against by an employer giving the job to a supposed minority if and only if: the person who is not given the job or demoted attacks the affirmaive action decision by claiming that they - the person demoted or not given the job are a minority or more of a minority than the person given the job. For example, my ancestors are Russian and Polish. I think Polish Americans are discriminated against. If you go back in time far enough, ALL of our ancestors came out of Africa or the far east. So, all of us are either African-Americans or Asian-Americans. So, what is all this crap about affirmative action? In my opinion, there simply have not been conservative attorneys who are bright enough to use the arguement I have outlined above. And finally, when asked a question by Ron Brown, what did Bill Clinton have to say? A: If I told you, I'd have to kill you.
