Good Evening padco:

There is nothing that I can add to Mardy's or Jim's post and I hope it answers your question.

FYI here are the two main camps:

ofdm-forum.com

bwif.org

regards
Howard

padco, I think the answer (which you will find in many
shapes and fashions --- in the following links :-) )
is YEP !, they pretty much agree that Wilan's claims
are valid. Otherwise, they would not be in the forum.

We should note that the word "Forum" was carefully chosen,
meaning that it was a concensus seeking group.

The other group is an alliance for all who subscribe to the pre-conceived idea that only V-OFDM is the best, and and because it's the best, you can have it free.

In the opinion of this stubborn old dirt farmer,
NOBODY has all the answers to all problems that the various
groups will experience. So (as much as we'd like to
think otherwise) W-OFDM is not the COMPLETE answer to those
problems.
I do not know the the technical aspects,
but there is something called a Power Regulation problem
which must be overcome , if W-OFDM were to be used as
a substitute for the current (truly mobile) cell phone technologies ...(CDMA or TDMA, etc)
I understand that Qualcomm has the IPR which solves
this problem.

Time is very important, so these folks know that they
must cooporate, and Microsoft is pushing hard to get
this accomplished.

I'm rushing this a bit, and hope that it makes good sense.
Best,
Mardy.
