Ron, you are so right. I have studied leaders a bit. The very, very best ones are the ones who can select people well. People with the very best talent in their area of responsibility. Then the leader must empower them and then just keep his or her hand on the wheel while giving feedback and being involved in the major, policy changing type decisions. I believe the real strength, the one that will hopefully make GWB a great president, is that he isn't an egomaniac and can accept people smarter than himself in areas of responsibility. Therefore, he can choose the very best people and not be threatened about them getting more press or recognition. Note most of the department heads, cabinet people of the Clinton-Gore administration. Tell me they are the best talent America has to offer in their respective positions? Would Gore or Clinton choose someone that would take the limelight away from them? No, I don't think so. They have to be the star.
