Kirk, I'm not saying there haven't been provocations. In fact, I think that D.K. has been demonized to a great extent. From what I have seen of his posts, I believe him to be a man of integrity. But I wonder if he hasn't been locked into the conflict to some extent by both the history of the dispute and his own followers' expectations of him. It takes courage to change one's mind, and uncommon courage to do so publicly, especially in light of the criticism he would likely receive for doing so. Added to this barrier is the possible perception that he would have to admit he was wrong, which would be especially galling since he probably sincerely believes that he has done nothing wrong. I'm not convinced that he has done anything wrong either. But that problem could be dealt with by simply saying something like, "While I don't believe I have done anything wrong, and I don't pretend to understand the reasons for Mr. Brinker's objections to my paid interpretation service, because of the esteem in which I hold his work, it is enough for me that he DOES object."

I can't pretend that this would be an easy decision to make, since I have not walked a mile in his shoes, but I would hope that he has the strength to make the decision if he finds merit in what I am saying. I am sure that he has the fortitude to not let the fear of being labeled "spineless" enter into the decision.
