A man is sentenced to life in prison and is put in a cell block with all the other long term prisoners.

One evening, with everyone in their cells, an inmate calls out "72!" and the rest of the inmate break out in laughter. Another inmate calls out "128!" and again everyone laughs.

The man asks his cellmate whats going on. The oldtimer explains that everyone has been there so long and new jokes are rare so they have assigned numbers to all the jokes they know and hands him a list of the numbered jokes.

The man reads thru the list and finds one really funny and yells out its number. Nothing!...Silence! He finds another on the list and yells out its number...again Silence! He asks his cellmate "whats wrong, those jokes were really funny?"

The oldtimer replies "Well son, some people just can't tell a joke."

Posters who insist on repeating jokes would save a lot of time if they would just post the number of the joke they are repeating instead of retyping it.......;-)
