Clearly, the DDR platform is not quite ready for prime time in Q4. This mild delay in platform is not a complete unknown. So, that was an expected disappointment from my perspective.

Did I miss something about a delay? I thought the Micron announcement said immediate availability (ie taking orders today with a lead time of a couple of weeks). That is about as well advanced as I would expect of any announcement.

Chuck - RE: "I see that you have voiced this concern a few times today. From my perspective, if people are disappointed with the performance then the expectations were out of line."

When I said those things earlier today and yesterday I was trying to make a point. This thread has a tendency to expect the best and be oblivious to the worst or reality. THe past two earnings estimate contest have shown this thread as a whole was overly optimistic. This is exacerbated when Niceguy posts his routine predictions or when posts are made that expect the best from AMD and the worst from Intel. Sure, it can be fun to think like that, but it isn't a proper thing to expect. I'm just annoyed by it. The reason I made such a big deal today is because it shows anything can happen. With P4 and Mustang just around the corner people shouldn't expect the P4 to suck in ALL benchmarks and for Mustang to SMOTHER the P4 in ALL benchmarks. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. But it doesn't seem proper to expect the best for AMD all the time. Cas 2 PC133 is faster than Cas 2.5 PC2100 DDR in some office benchmarks. How many people expected this? I didn't...

Anyways, I hope I didn't tick too many people off with this post. ;) I'm outta here until the analyst meeting...

PS: Sorry to use a blanket term like "the thread". SOme people clearly are realistic or are open to looking at the worst, like Kash.
